FAQs

FAQs

Let’s get down to the nitty gritty…

Q: When is the race?
A: Sunday 7th April 2019. Provisional timings are 9:30am for the childrens’ fun run and 10:30am for the main race.

Q: Where?
A: Race headquarters will be at Layer Village Hall, New Cut, Layer de la Haye CO2 0EH. The race start and finish line will be on the village field over the road.

Q: How do I enter?
A: Unfortunately unless you have already registered for the main race you can not! This race is now sold out. The children’s race will be entry on the day, £3 per child.

Q: Can I transfer my entry to someone else?
A: Unfortunately not. After careful consideration we have made the decision to not allow the transfer of race places. All of our committee members are working on this community event voluntarily around their own families and day jobs and at this moment in time we do not have the administrative manpower to devote to transferring places.

Q: Will there be parking?
A: Yes. We are unsure of the exact location(s) of the parking at the moment, we are exploring as many options as possible to keep the roads clear for our residents and to give our runners convenient places to leave their vehicles. Precise details will be released with race information around a week before the event.

Q: How will I check in for the race?
A: Check in will be in the hall where you will collect your race bib and t-shirt. We recommend arriving with plenty of time for check in.

Q: Will there be toilets?
A: Yes.

Q: Will there be refreshments?
A: Yes, water, cold drinks, hot drinks, cake and other snacks will be available in the hall. Catering service has been kindly donated by Tealicious. We will also be grateful for donations of cakes for anyone who wants to support the event and help us to raise more money for our wonderful community.

Q: Will there be a bag drop?
A: Yes. However we will not be taking any responsibility for your belonging and we advise all runners to be advised that personal possessions are left at your own risk.

Q: What is the course like?
A: Multi-terrain (road, fields and path) exact conditions will be weather dependent and undulating with lovely views!

Q: Can I walk it?
A: YES! This event is 100% a community spirited event. Walk, jog, run and/or sing Christmas songs as you go! We only ask that you smile as you cross the finish line!

Q: When will I receive my medal?
A: After you cross the finish line!

Q: Will the race be timed?
A: Yes. We will aim to publish results on the day, on our website but we would be most appreciative for your patience and understanding as this will be the first time we coordinate an event like this.

Q: Will there be photography?
A: Yes. Photos will be published on our website and on our Facebook page.

Q: What else will be going on on the day?
A: Clare Rickman Sport and Remedial Massage Therapist has kindly offered to donate her skills for the day to aid those tired running legs (for a suggested donation towards the cause). There will be cake and hot drinks and we are very open to more fundraising suggestions so if you can think of an activity or service you would like to donate please get in touch!

Q: Where is the money going?
A: All proceeds will be go to local community causes, Friends of Layer School, Layer Preschool and St. John the Baptist Church in Layer de la Haye.

Q: Will this become an annual event?
A: We would like to think so! As a committee of locals who all love their village and running we believe this event has the power to become an asset to the local community. But we have lots to learn and we want to see the whole process through and hear the feedback before we commit.
